Well I live about 7 miles from Gloucester & yesterday morning a 24yr old bloke was arrested for supposedly having links with Osama Bin Ladens terror group. The street where he was living was evacuated & a small ammount of explosives were found at the house. Unconfirmed reports have said that it was for a suicide bomber to use at a football match. More houses in the area were searched today & also there was another arrest & further searched in the Bradford area. It`s scary to think that this has happened so close, but GCHQ is only at Cheltenham & that is the Goverments communications HQ. Very frightening times.

I saw that. They evacuated a bunch of homes while they searched for explosives, didn't they?
Any idea what this mope's target was, or if they're unravelling any associates?

Well on the local news tonight it said that they are still holding that man from Gloucester at Paddington Green in London. The whole of St James Street in Gloucester was evacuated yesterday & today/tonight the Police are searching further homes in 2 nearby streets in connection with this. They also searched a flat above a shop just around the corner from wher this bloke lived, & also a mosque in Bradford where he studied for a while. I did chuckle to myself as they interviewed someone who knew him & he said they had talked of Jahid(sorry I think I spelt it wrong),but he said no way would he be involved in that, as though you would openly broadcast that you were after 911!!. Where this has gone on in Gloucester is mainly a muslim/pakistani community & now the Police are worried that there may be reprocussions on this. I remember in the 80`s when I worked in the largest dept store in the city Christmas was when your bum started twitching as it was when the bomb calls were made & you had to evacuate the store in record quick time. 9 out of 10 were crank calls, but once an incendary device was found in the basement section where my dept was & we had to get the bomb disposal guys into get it out. That was scary. I will keep you updated on the news Dennis.

Thanks.
Unless you object, I'll cross post your reply to a politics & war board I frequent, without your ID of course. Let's see if that will stimulate the intel sources of info over there.

Oh, Janers, I'm sorry to hear that terror is so close to your home, but grateful that one of 'em was apprehended. How frightening for you! Currmudgeon, thanks, and keep us abreast of anything you glean from the politics and war board.

Yes Jane I had heard about it and as you know we used to live quite near to Gloucester. It is so frightening and I must say that the police did well - just shows how good their intelligence is.
It just goes to show that nowhere is really safe these days. I used to think that Cornwall is safe but when you think we have the RN & RAF bases down here and Goonhilly Satellite Station - prime targets really.
The problem with these suicide bombers is that they can strike at any time anywhere. They don't care who they kill.

Latest info is that they think he was making a shoe bomb, & had possible links with the shoe bomber that is safely encasarated in the US. I think his name is Richard Read isn`t it??. Just shows one thing you don`t know who they are, where they are, or when they are going to strike, as they plan these things bloody years in advance. Evil gits.

I think his name is Richard Read isn`t it??. That's the mope. Permanent guest of Uncle Sam. May he rot. The best thing we can do, domestically, is to keep up the intelligence effort and keep pressure on them. That way, fewer of them will get through.

It isnt as scary as knowing that you once lived right next to a 9/11 hijacker leader who happens to be Mohammed Atta. His PO box use to be near Blockbusters of which i use to rent my videos from. checkout this news article iraq-info.1accesshost.com/schrom.htmlAccording to the report, the Mossad agents were interested in the leader of the terrorists, Mohammed Atta and his key accomplice, Marwan al-Shehi. Both lived in Hamburg before they settled in Hollywood, Florida in order to plan the attacks. A Mossad team was also operating in the same town. The leader, Hanan Serfati, had rented several dwellings. "One of Serfati's apartments was located on the corner of 701st St. and 21st Ave. [sic] in Hollywood, right near the apartment of Atta and al-Shehi.", French intelligence reported later. Everything indicates that the terrorists were constantly observed by the Israelis. The chief Israeli agent was staying right near the post office where the terrorists had a mailbox. The Mossad also had its sights on Atta's accomplice Khalid al-Midhar, with whom the CIA was also familiar, but allowed to run free. The Mossad apparently warned their American counterparts several times about the terrorists, especially about al-Midhar. The American government later admitted that they had received such warnings prior to September 11. But at most that there were attacks planned against American installations outside the United States. including this www.amanaonline.com/Articles/art_122.htmSeveral also took advantage of private mailbox stores in South Florida beach towns to conceal addresses.

I hope he rots in hell & that shoes bomber aint gonna see the light of day ever again, as our good friends & allies in America have put that apology for a human being away for life. Good on ya guys, as we say over here Dont Mess With the Best.
