How many GSD owners have dogs with dog aggression problems?
I've had Rotties for the past 10 years and have gone back to GSDs but I must say I'm amazed at the dog aggression in this breed. I don't remember it being so bad years ago. We always had GSDs growing up and we never had any problems with our dogs.

Other than bitches in season, or two brothers who hate each other but not others, we have our dogs playing together all of the time. They learn to interact with dogs of different ages and dominance levels right from the start and our pups do not seem to have these issues. We also keep them until 10 weeks so they understand how to behave around others.

I am currently working through a so called "leash Aggression" problem with Elsa. She does tend to be a bit dominant (or perhaps controling) of the other dog's that were in here training class. But off leash she is not so aggressive, but then again, she is not exactly shrinking violet either.

I do think there is some dog aggression of varying degrees. But I know we heavily socialize our litters with well mannered adults to give all pups a good start. The continuation of that socialization then rests with the owner. That then becomes their responsibility. It's important to teach the dog at a young age good manners around other dogs and consistently do this as the dog matures. It's an ongoing process. I think this makes a tremendous difference.
