My dog is a very jealous dog. Whenever i pet another dog that he starts barking ( not an aggressive way) and start whinning and complaining. Im hoping to bring in a puppy within next year or after that.
What is the most best way to introducing a puppy with a jealous dog?

Hi, Brittany!
Integrating a puppy is always problematical, particularly with intact males. Many males do NOT like puppies and if you're trying to introduce a male pup, he can be savaged and killed by the older male.
Having said that, of course there are MANY males that absolutely adore young puppies and never have any problems with them. You really don't know what is going to happen until you see how the individual combination works.
If you're trying to introduce a female, then quite possibly there will be NO problems at all. But you have to make sure that the male knows he can't be rough with the puppy, that he can't socially dominate her or put her into totally submissive behavior. And the pup has to know that she can't be constantly bothering the older dog. They have to be completely supervised whenever they're together and crates handy for time outs.
Don't expect the pup to pick up good habits from your older dog. I've always found that the older dogs regress back to puppy status.<sigh>

Hello there Janis I was wanting a male pup but had changed my mind. My dog wouldn't hurt a puppy, which my parents got a male yorkie pup and he didn't do nothing about it, the yorkie isn't fixed either. My dog has pretty decent temperament but the problem is that I will start caring and loving up onto the next dog that I will be getting, which will be in the next year or 2. My dog is a ladies man... He doesn't like any "big males" around, which is a threat of his "MOJO" but whenever he sees any females around that hes on his best behavior, which I have notice when I had seen when hes around my parents Female (fixed) poodle. Dunno if it's the breed that has to do with anything but hes pretty decent with females, which he knows that "WERE" the boss, hehehehe

One of the most interesting things you can do is study the social structure that dogs like to work on. If you want to know who is the Top in any family, ask the dog!
In the pack social structure there is always an alpha female and an alpha male. The male seems primarily responsible for defense of the pack, breeding and some hunting. It's the female alpha who runs everything else. Males will definitely defer to females when it comes to running the pack. So I would expect Jake to be perfectly okay with an adult female.
