Amber vom Wilden Westen just received her BH this past weekend. She did well considering the BH's were held in a monsoon Seriously, the rain was dumping so hard during our routine that I looked like Alice Cooper at the end of it. Scary picture huh? Amber didn't want to do the down in motion, she stood, and looked at me like, "I'm NOT laying down in that water." But we managed to get through the routine with no other major mishaps. Amber also received another SG1 rating in the show, but she was the only one in her class.. Oh well, we do this for the experience....she loves to show.

She is very lovely. She is one of my favorite bitches, Laurie! Way to go for the BH! Under those horrible conditions, it is truly something to be very proud of!
Both Tazzi and Hattie blew the last leg of their UKC-CD's because they wouldn't do down (honoring dog) in a monsoon. Since then, I learned not to be a fair weather trainer! Except for heat, I hate the heat myself!! Give me rain or snow anyday! LOL
Way to go! Fran

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Sandy, Amber is two years old. I find it interesting that you think she looks mature..I've always thought she looked (and acted) like a perpetual puppy !! She was a "onesie"... the only pup in her litter. So she's taken much longer to grow up, and is incredibly spoiled... I see you are from Utah, have we met before somewhere, at a show or trial? I thought I knew just about everyone from this neck of the woods?

Laurie, Congratulations. Now tell me what is a BH? Normie, I found part of this explanation of the BH on the UScA website: The BH or companion dog title is a pre-requirement for Schutzhund titles. All breeds and sizes are eligible with the minimum age requirements of 15 months.
The obedience phase includes a series of heeling exercises, some of which are closely in and around a group of people. During the heeling, there is a gun shot test to assure that the dog does not openly react to such sharp noises. There is also a series of field exercises in which the dog is commanded to sit, and lie down, while the handler continues to move. There is also a recall exercise from the down position.
Finally, each dog is expected to stay in a lying down position away from its handler, despite distractions, at the other end of the obedience field, while another dog completes the above exercises. All of the obedience exercises are tests of the dog's temperament, structural efficiencies, and, very importantly, its willingness to serve its owner.
A temperament test is also given, the dog must let the judge examine the tattoo. Another portion of the test is one where the dog will be tied out while the handler moves out of sight, and another dog is walked nearby. The dog also must walk on lead, while a jogger, or a biker, and an automobile drive by.

Congrats, Laurie. Amber is just stunning. I still think one of my all time fave pictures of her is the one in the purple flowers. That was her, right?
