I have been putting alot of thought recently into how food affects dogs performance. I just read an interesting article in WDJ about feeding a small carbohydrate meal about 2 hours prior to competition because it will stimulate the formulation of seratonin...thus calming a stressy dog. I also try and feed turkey during competition weeks for the trytophan (again calming my rather intense working girl) Do any of you out there try and work food and feeding into your competition plan?

interesting theory ..... it sounds like it would work ... the only problem is that when we showin conformation most of our ring times are earlier in the morning and my dogs will not eat anything in the morning .... but I am sure I could find somehting with high carbs they might eat...... I may have to test this out

That is interesting. I might feed more turkey during the girls' heat cycles, since that time seems to give me the most grief in my training program. They seem to lose their minds for about a month..
