Anyone know if feeding from a metal bowl can turn a dogs nose pink? My mom was saying she knew someone with a Malamute and every winter when feeding from a metal bowl his nose would go pink and then change back to black. Any ideas?

I heard on the opposite, it was plastic that did that However our water bowls are metal and food bowls are plastic, and never had a pink nose yet...

I use a variety of different bowls; metal, ceramic, glass, plastic, rubber etc.. One bitch had a pink nose for a while, then it suddenly went back to black. No obvious reason. Maybe there is a skin bacteria that causes it, and some dogs are more prone than others? Anyone out there got a dog that does this from time to time? Or does it only happen the once?
My bitch was not at all worried about it, but it did look strange!

I've been told it's called "snow nose" (or something like that) and that it's caused by the lack of sunlight in the winter. One of my girls gets it every winter and it goes away in the spring. We use plastic bowls.
