Guys Could someone ost a copy of the BH test or tell me where I can locate a copy. We do not do BH in the legal dog world in Australia as it is part of the dreaded S word Schutzhund. However I would like to train my dogs towards it even if I cannot do the test for here. I have asked around over here a know one seems to have a copy. Regards Freundhund

if it's not a GSD, it's only a dog

the BH-test is only an obedience and temperament test and has nothing to do with the protection-work in Schutzhund (besides the fact that a dog needs to have passed a BH to be entered in a SchH-trial) Until the end of this year it'll be the SchH1-obedience-routine just without the send-away and retrieves. BH stays the same next year while SchH changes a bit... so there is still the on-leash-heeling first, then off-leash-heeling, sit in motion, down in motion with recall, long-down. From next year on there will be no gun-test during the off-leash-heeling for a BH anymore. The second part of the BH is done off the club-field, somewhere in town where there are people and traffic. Asked patterns depend on jugde but basically dog has to walk through a group of people again, sit and down in the group on command, ignore a by-passing jogger, ignore a by-passing biker, not be afraid of cars, traffic, people. Finally be friendly to people and dogs when back-tied somewhere and the handler is out of sight. No-one will touch the dog and no other dog will be allowed loose or close enough something could happen.

Freundhund, The BH is just a traffic-steady companion dog test, there is heeling on and off leash and a sit out of motion and a down with a recall.(and a down under distraction..that is gun fire, til the rules change). Well..all the things topgsd said about the traffic with the dog being tested also on its' behavior towards another dog when the handler is out of site. The dog cannot show any aggression towards the passers by. And, every judge has different little things he has his group ppl. do or maybe he will have the car honk as it drives past...it is totally up to his or her discretion...and it is a pass or fail exercise...

Thanks Janis I only need the tracking and obedience sections. Don't do bite work as it's too difficult in Australia. Thanks for the web address. Regards Freundhund

Does anyone have an idea of what the written test will consist of? This is something new, and required prior to taking doing a BH. -Jo

It ranges from dog behaviour, to legal stuff, to training, feeding, vactinations, puppy handling etc. You get around 25 random questions in the test.
