Just read about this stuff on another BB. Does it work to darken the coat color?

Hi, We just started our dogs on it about a month ago. Have not seen a real difference, however they have nice pigment to begin with. I tried it as we have heard that it will add tons of red to dogs coat and that several well known German show line kennels use it. The dogs really like the taste of it, and it is also supposed to be good for their coat condition and stools. We will give it another month or so to start looking for results.

I feed my dog Olewo everyday and I must admit I haven't noticed a tremendous change in his already red and black coat. I also fed it to my Shih Tzu who is white and brown and his white did start to turn orange/red so it apparently will work in situations where more red is really needed. Beta-Carotene is a good anti-oxidant and is pretty cheap as far as supplements go so I will keep adding it to my GSD's food primarily for that reason but my Shih-Tzu will have to get his from another source.

I don't use Olewo anymore, but I used to. I use fresh carrots, liquified in the blender with water. If you eat enough carrots, you turn orange, too. I don't think it's a good idea to use carrots too much, but use a balanced mixture of dark green and deep orange vegetables as well as other fruits and vegetables.
