I would like to feed more raw to my puppies than I currently do and am wondering how the board members go.
Currently my puppies get raw egg added once a week to their dry food, also once a week tinned sardine is added. I also feed the puppies hamburger mince or chicken mince as well as yoguhurt and cottage cheese. Vegetables seem to be carrot, garlic, broccoli, cauliflower and pumpkin put through the blender. I cannot seem to wean myself away from also giving them a very good quality dry food.
I need the information for the 4 - 8 week age group once puppies are 8 weeks old I can manage them and a raw diet.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
Regards

I start my weanlings on hamburger mixed with milk replacer and a little yogurt or probiotics. We keep that up for a week and at about 5 weeks, I put raw chicken wings in with their meal for them to play with. It takes one bright spark about 3 minutes to figure out that these are FOOD and show the littermates. Within a week, the little carnivores are turning their nose up at the hamburger and concentrating solely on the chicken wings. By six weeks, they're crunching even the biggest bones.
At this stage, I offer hamburger again, with egg, yogurt or cottage cheese (which they prefer), mashed green beans and occasionally fish. This is in addition to chicken wings four times daily. By eight weeks, they're working on chicken gizzards, leg quarters, beef knuckle and shank bones and their hamburger mix. The beef mix is phased out by 10 weeks except for once weekly veggie mash which is added to it. Their veggies include cooked sweet potato, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, pears, bananas, etc.
The totally raw fed puppy will be a little bit smaller than a kibble fed puppy. They weigh exactly the same but they're developing more lean muscle mass than fat. They have little waists and you can often see their last rib when it's time for a meal. The unevenness in growth comparison is completely gone by 12 months.
