Hey guys,
Just wanted to know if any of you have had luck with a particular food to add weight to a dog. Tasha is extremely active, just turned a year old, otherwise healthy, but too skinny. I have added to her food intake, but she burns it off too quickly. She loves life, and I do not want to slow her down. Her diet consists of mostly chicken backs, necks, veggies, eggs, cottage cheese, fish, beef kidney and heart, chicken gizards and hearts, and chicken feet. I have fed her everything I can think of in moderation except the backs and necks. They are the base of all her meals. Any suggestions would be great! I just love the BARF diet. It is the greatest thing I ever discovered regarding my dogs!

We have a Golden Animal Care product here it's called "rinderfett pulver". It's powdered beef fat... or however you call it Great for adding to raw diet for skinny dogs.

Try changing to chicken quarters for a higher meat to bone ratio. You can also add a couple of tablespoons of melted real butter (not margerine) or olive oil over the food.

There's a new product called Super Fuel, by the original creator of Peak Performance 2. It's a concentrated source of nutrients. Works well with BARF. Email me if you want contact information. Your female isn't losing weight, is she? And her stools are small and firm?

I must agree with Janis, olive oil works great.I just got finished using it on one of my horse's(recommended by my vet)he was losing weight, even though he was eating his normal intake, due to stress because we moved him.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful ideas. I will give the olive oil a try! No, Kerry, Tasha is not losing weight and her stools are small and firm. She just won’t gain any weight. When she moved here in January, she went a week without food. She just refused to eat. That is when she lost the weight, and she has not picked it back up yet. She is just too energetic!!! She runs and plays all the time with my other two. Please keep the ideas coming if this does not work! Thanks again!

I have a female like this. She goes, goes, goes, all the time, thin as a rail, eats like a horse. The Peak Performance and Super Fuel has helped her maintain her lovely schoolgirl figure.
