Rikki's pups are growing and putting more and more demands on her for nourishment (they have teeth now, boy is SHE going to be happy to see the weaning process!) and I want to make sure that she has the maximum number of calories. So far, she looks to be holding her weight (67 lbs) very well.
In the morning, she gets 2 leg quarters with a handful of necks or 5-6 wings. Lunch is usually 2 lg handfuls of raw hamburger with shredded cheese, yogurt, sour cream or butter, green beans or carrots. Dinner can be fish (2 lg cans mackeral, 1 can of sardines) or more chicken as per breakfast. She's also getting one egg a week and her supplements hidden in the hamburger.
We can't give her nice raw beef bones to chew on because it frustrates her to have no place to hide them. She's very restless and paces constantly when she has one. Then she trys to take it into the whelping box and if a puppy sniffs it, look out!
How much more should we be beefing up the menu and does anyone have any suggestions of what she should be getting? Her coat looks great (blowing like a fiend, though. That's normal.), ears and teeth are clean and nails are also showing the effect of raw. Ugh.

HI Janis..
How many pups are there? and how old are they?
With my nursing moms.. I give an egg twice a day.. also cottage cheese twice a day.. She would get two meals with bones in it.. I use Chicken backs.. and 2 meals with some kind of meat.. turkey, hamburger, buffalo, or one of the frozen complete raw diets.. OMA's or Abady Frozen. I supplement 2 times a day with Vit E, C, B, Kelp, Codliver Oil.. Sometimes I add Sardines with one of the meals.. Several times a day I give her a Goat's milk shake with Goat's milk, honey, flaxseed oil, 2 raw egg yokes..blend and serve..
I have pups due next week... what fun!
