Are the spots red, itchy? Is she chewing on her feet, ears, face? Usually if it's food allergies those areas will be effected also. What type of meat is in the food? Poultry, lamb, beef? Food allergies can develope at anytime, so even if a dog has been on the same food he may develope a reaction. Another thing to consider is her environement, has anything changed- cleaned carpets, any other harsh cleaners; or been anywhere different, like water, pond? It could be an external irritant. Fleas? Any flea dirt? Just throwing out all ideas here. I think an exam by your vet would be a good place to start. The vet may do a scraping to rule out any external parasite, etc. If it is food, most suggest to go on a bland diet, fish/potato feeds, or change the source of protein in the food-try to find a more natural food with less additives. I like solid gold products for my dogs. Then it's waiting to see if the area clears on the new food. Sometimes topicals to the areas help for immediate relief, if they don't lick it off Hope that helps, it can be very frustrating! Trish www.tritonkennels.com

Does it look like ringworm? Otherwise it sounds like it could be the food, it might be time to make a switch. The most common allergies in dogs are corn, soybean, and wheat. Certain types of meat can also cause a reaction. Well, I hope you can get it sorted out! As far as more natural kibble, I really like solid gold. Their website is solidgoldhealth.com. I feed Hundchen Flocken Puppy, also Wolf cub has become very popular ( bison/salmon mix). Good luck with her!

"it looks like the spots teenagers get!"
It could well be just spots. If she doesn't scrach much, doesn't lick them, or they don't spread, it's most likely what it is. I've seen that in pups before.

We've had a few tummy spots on pups when I've been over-enthusiastic with the disinfecting; the spots go fairly quickly when I wash them with my hypo-allergenic face cleanser...... ! ;D ;D ;D
