I met this lovely young couple who had started out in this business venture. As I have put a fair bit of work their way they turned up yesterday to "treat" my 2 as a little thankyou. Let's see if I can get the pics to work. Blue & Sadie were a bit wary initially but once they got confident they really loved it. Sadie's coat is gleaming and Blue's coat was so fluffed up - he looked twice as big as he normally is. They had their ears cleaned and nails trimmed too!!!

Jane,
It certainly was a fun afternoon - lots of the dog people from the village turned up to have a look. They actually got 2 more bookings that way which was nice.
Shelaigh,
You were right Blue & Sadie were a bit skeptical and both were quite reluctant to get on board. Once they were in the bath they were fine. Blue even gave John a kiss on the nose!!!! Our Sadie was beaming!!! she loved it all. Being black her coat is now gleaming-I've never seen her look or smell as nice. Blue's coat looks a bit too dry but I think it's just a bit too flyaway and it has settled down a bit by today.
When they'd finished John & Lin came in for a coffee and a chat and the dogs were all over them.
I trust my dogs judgement and they loved this couple!!!

It looks and sounds like a really nice idea for those who aren't able to bathe their own dogs when they want to. It actually looks very secure and inviting. Does it come in a human version?

Sorry Kerry I don't believe it comes in a human version. I just want the one that does the dog's without me having to do the work. Note I am having my house renovated and having a doggie hydrobath put in the laundry. (O joy). Another thing when I had the mobile hydro bath come to wash my dogs I was most disappointed. On the advert they showed a gorgeous looking guy bathing the dogs. A woman turned up to do mine. She was drop dead gorgeous long natural blonde hair, mid twenties stunning figure, tall, elegant (how dare she be elegant bathing dogs). She was bathing dogs to pay her way through Uni. My children got a good giggle, when I booked the appointment they had already made their comments. (Little beasts). Regards Freundhund

Hey Gwen,
This is new to me - never heard of this sort of service - just wish I had the necessary cash, and I would definately take out a franchise in that business!!! I could then stop working 12 - 15 hours a day trucking all over UK!!, and perhaps even earn more money too!!!
Lovely pics, very interesting story too - just one question.....IF you had to pay, how much would it have cost per dog?
Loadsa Luv and Huggggs to you and Dave,

Yes, Freundhund, that sounds like FALSE ADVERTISING to me, too! Those blonde babes get hired every time! ;D Congratulations on getting a nice hydro setup in your home. I 'd really love to have an indoor bath for my dogs. Are they very pricey?

Hey Gwen, Lovely pics, very interesting story too - just one question.....IF you had to pay, how much would it have cost per dog? Loadsa Luv and Huggggs to you and Dave, Sunny and John Hi John & Sunny, Yes it certainly is a good business idea. The actual trailer is imported from Australia (probably made by Dianne tee hee) which meant they had to buy into the franchise which cost £15,000. The franchise does help with advertising but down here in Cornwall "word of mouth" is best which is why I said I'd try and help them. I think they pitch the price depending on location - say they were based in London - they could charge more For a GSD ( with no matting in the coat) the cost is £20. For Newfies, Bernese, St Bernards - it goes up to £25. There is also a discount for multiple dogs. They did tell me they did 25 dogs in their 2nd week - not a bad income eh!! but they do need repeat business and maybe there is the dilemma. Blue had his first bath ever that day hee hee. My view on it is this - with our little business - dogs always need food winter or summer - baths is a different kettle of fish. Cornwall as you know is a low income area. I just hope they make a go of it as they were a very nice couple.

My dad, in Sydney, has the hydrobath people come round once a month to do his golden retriever. What a great idea!

Hi Gwen It's interesting the charges in the UK as that is what ist costs in AUD and you get $aud3 to the British pound. Over here we have a number of different francises. Also the trailers are setuop differently, however for alittle extra cost they will blow the dog dry as well. Try it one day just as a cheer up for yourself or when the dog is really dirty. Janis are you sure your dad has a Golden Retreiver. I thought he would have had to have a Shepherd . Regards Freundhund

LOL, *I* think he should have a GSD, but he DOES have a GR. A Guide Dog drop out. I'm not quite sure WHAT they were thinking of to place that dog with an elderly man, but both Dad and the dog are perservering.<grin>
