I'm so very sorry to hear that your mother died, and under such tragic circumstances. There is help available for grief and loss through your Hospice Program for those who may need it. I will remember you in my prayers. Your buddy Jake is nearby.

Brittany. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. I know this must be a very hard time for you. It sure was when MY mother died a few years ago. There are some good books to read that might help you through this. There was a woman who has done lots of work with people who were dying or had relatives/loved ones who died. Her name I Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross. The book I like best was called, "On Death and Dying". It was very helpful for me. It could be for you too.
Good luck, and bless you for going through this tough time.

It's always a shock, even if you knew it was coming. The outpatient program may help - talking is generally worthwhile. Just don't let them suck you into permanent victim mode.
Activity helps a lot. There's something about adrenaline, endorphines, and exhaustion. That's what the old, traditional Irish wake was for - to keep you busy for a while.
In the end, time helps.
God bless you.
